Thanksgiving
Posted on: November 25, 2009
Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival, traditionally meant as a time to express gratitude for the harvest and in general. It is a holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada, on the fourth Thursday of November and on the second Monday of October respectively. Thanksgiving is a statutory holiday in most jurisdictions of Canada.
The tradition of giving thanks to God is observed in different ways. Various religious and spiritual organizations offer services and events on Thanksgiving themes on or around this day.
Thanksgiving dinner is held on this day, or over the course of the associated weekend in Canada. Friends and family members gather for the dinner at the home of the host, and begin the dinner by saying grace.
The American Christmas season traditionally begins the day after Thanksgiving, it is known as “Black Friday”.
In New York City, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is held annually every Thanksgiving Day from the Upper West Side of Manhattan to Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square, and televised nationally by NBC. The parade features parade floats with specific themes, scenes from Broadway plays, large balloons of cartoon characters and TV personalities, and high school marching bands. The float that traditionally ends the Macy’s Parade is the Santa Claus float, the arrival of which is an unofficial sign of the beginning of the Christmas season.
Interestingly, American football is forms an important part of many Thanksgiving celebrations in the United States. Professional games are traditionally held on Thanksgiving Day. This tradition is dutifully observed by The National Football League, which plays games on Thanksgiving every year since its creation. This is referred to as the Thanksgiving Classic. The Detroit Lions have hosted a game every Thanksgiving Day since 1934, with the exception of 1939–1944 (due to World War II).
This Thanksgiving, let us pray to the Lord and express our gratitude towards Him for showering us with His love and merciful blessings. Let us thank those people in our lives who have stood by us through thick and thin. God bless you all.
We at Agile Technosys wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Pray or meditate
Posted on: October 30, 2009
meditation, originally uploaded by HaPe_Gera.In today’s times, when the world is plagued with serious problems like famines and droughts, unemployment, disease and death, there is only one ray of hope for survival of human beings- the faith in the Almighty. He is the One who is our savior, who can set us free from these tormenting crises. All we have to do is connect with Him, either through praying, or meditating, whichever method applies to us. And that is exactly what Prayormeditate.com is all about.
This pragmatic site was started by Michael Nielson in 2009, when this benign idea dawned on him on a summer morning. Being a staunch believer in the power of prayer himself, he knew the power of collective prayers of people all over the world, with different faiths and religions, would help in overcoming any obstacle, be it a deadly disease, or a natural calamity.
The process is very simple. If you or one of your loved ones is going through any trauma or illness, and you wish to harness the Divine Power to cure the ailment, Prayormeditate.com is the place to go. There, you will find prayers or meditators that will pray or meditate for you, as per your request. All you need to do is register, and then believe in the power of their faith unquestionably, and leave it all to God.
You may also offer your services as a Prayer or Meditator to help those in need. You just have to believe in your own faith in God in any form that you may choose, and pray or meditate to cure the ailing patients. You can choose your faith in any form, any religion, any sector that you feel right.
You can also join the Forums related to your areas of concern and seek expert advice. Or you can join the Community of your interest to keep yourself on the spiritual plane by connecting with fellow seekers. You can get inspired and strengthen your faith by reading the Success Stories.
So join this revolutionary site today, and let us all come together to overcome all the crises and restore peace, health, and happiness to this planet.

Halloween
Posted on: October 26, 2009

Halloween is an annual holiday celebrated on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain (Summer’s end) and the Christian holy day of All Saints.
Halloween is a holiday characterized by mystery, magic and superstition. It has its origins in the Celtic end-of-summer festival, Samhain, during which the ancient Celts commemorated their dear ones who have passed on. It was their belief that on Samhain, the border between the material world and the spiritual world vanishes and thus the spirits can move freely into this world. The family’s ancestors were honored and invited home whilst harmful spirits were warded off. This desire to keep away evil spirits is what led to the tradition of wearing scary costumes and masks, so as to pose as scary spirits and ward them off.
The day is often associated with orange and black, and is strongly associated with symbols like the jack-o’-lantern. The tale of the origin of Jack-o’-lantern is an interesting one. It is said t
hat a greedy farmer by the name of Stingy Jack, tricked the Devil into climbing up a tree and imprisoned him there by drawing a holy cross on the tree’s bark. When Stingy Jack died, God refused to let him in Heaven due to his bad deeds, and the Devil did not permit him in Hell because of the trick Jack had played on him. So Stingy Jack was condemned into the dark night with a coal to light his path, which he placed in a hollow turnip. This is how the carving in pumpkins came to be associated with Halloween.
Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, ghost tours, bonfires, visiting haunted attractions, pranks, reading scary stories, and watching horror films.
Trick-or-treating is a traditional custom for children on Halloween. Children proceed in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as confectionery, or sometimes money, with the question, “Trick or treat?” The “trick” is an idle threat to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given.

Halloween costumes generally consist of monsters and evil spirits like ghosts, skeletons, witches, and devils, or characters from television shows, movies, and other pop culture icons.
The traditional delicacies that are usually served are candy apples, caramel or taffy apples because the holiday comes in the wake of the annual apple harvest.
Though popularly acknowledged as a scary festival, Halloween is primarily meant to pay tribute to our beloved ones who have departed from this world and pray peace for their souls. Also it is meant to celebrate the harvest season. Keeping these traditional reasons in mind, let us celebrate Halloween as an occasion of happiness, along with the fun and excitement of the mysterious scariness and horror.
Agile Technosys wishes all of you a happy Halloween! Trick or treat?

24th August 2009:
Now it seems that people have accepted Swine Flu outbreak as a way of life here. And life returns to normalcy after the initial chaos that spread panic amongst the people out here. But the fact still remains that Swine flu outbreak is far from being in control: here are the latest figures:
No. of suspected patients: 679
Total deaths in Pune so far: 27
Critical patients: 13
—————————————————————————————————————————————-
Update:
269 cases detected positive in Pune city so far. We have two suspects (unconfirmed) cases in the office. Hopefully they turn out negative.
Update:
Finally the Govt. decides to act tough – late but nevertheless some movement by the Govt. now.

The H1N1 – better known as Swine flu has been declared as a pandemic by the WHO. But what exactly is a Swine flu? As cited with Wikipedia:
The 2009 flu pandemic is a global outbreak of a new strain of influenza virus, officially named the “new H1N1″, first identified in April 2009, and commonly called “Swine flu.” It is thought to be a mutation of four known strains of the influenza A virus, subtype H1N1: one endemic in (normally infecting) humans, one endemic in birds, and two endemic in pigs (swine). Experts assume the virus “most likely” emerged from pigs in Asia, and was carried to North America by infected persons. There is also evidence that the new strain had been circulating among pigs on other continents for years before infecting humans. But transmission is human to human, with cooked pork products safe to eat as the virus cannot be transmitted by eating foods.
Swine flu has hit India just about a month ago and in a matter of mere 30 days, it has spread wild! Pune – where we have most of our operations in terms of development has been severely hit and no wonder is termed as the capital city for Swine flu.
So far as many as 118 cases have been detected and 1 case of death due to Swine flu has been registered in just Pune alone. Most of the cases that have been registered are amongst school children in the city and the city has been put on an alert.
We at Agile Technosys realize the seriousness of the situation and we have advised our colleagues and the following precautionary measures have been put in place.
- Employees have been advised about the causes and effects of H1N1 in general and have been advised to follow certain norms strictly to help fight the outbreak.
- Compulsory usage of surgical masks while in company premises.
- Recommend usage of surgical masks outside company premises.
- We strictly disallow any person with slight fever or any symptoms of Swine flu to sit in the office premises.
- Additional precaution such as washing of hands and usage of gloves is recommended.
As a matter of precaution – we recommend and request all clients to avoid traveling to India, especially to Pune for atleast a period of 2 weeks.
