Although not directly connected to us – this young 21 year old something from Pune topped the Everest – She is the youngest woman having done that. Krishna stays at Aundh in Pune. Something which we are very proud off! Hats off to you!
An enthusiastic welcome was accorded to Krishna Patil, the 19-year-old city girl who made history by becoming the first woman mountaineer from the state to conquer Mount Everest.
‘‘It was indeed an exaulted moment of glory after scaling the world’s highest mountain peak Mount Everest, which has always been a dream for every mountaineer,” said Krishna Patil yesterday, after she was accorded a hero’s welcome on her return by the residents in Aundh. The gusty lass has scaled Mount Everest on May 21. Speaking at a felicitation function arranged by former Pune mayor, Dattaraya Gaikwad in Aundh late last evening, Krishna dedicated the glory to ”the youth of the country.”

Elaborating her experience after reaching the summit, Krishna said ”I said to my self that here I am actually standing on top of the world,” and added ”the next thought that came to my mind was it was thus half the journey, after all reaching the summit in the life of a mountaineer brings sublime emotions and a feeling of great satisfaction.” She, however, said a dialogue process has opened with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for cleaning up the Gangotari glacier. The details are yet to be worked out.
